Review:

Now this is how you do a damn retelling

I think Liz Braswell is up there with Henry as the retelling queens!

These are the kind of plot twists that you need with any retelling. You want to make it interest but also far stretched from the original story but yet keep the characters as close to the original as possible (for relatable reasons). Somehow Braswell pulls this off magically.

Pretty much Ursula won and Ariel was defeated! This is based 5 years after the original story, were Ursula is still in Vanessa’s form with Ariel’s voice and Eric still hypnotised as a goose. Ariel is a voiceless mermaid trying to rule Atlantica. After Scuttle and his granddaughter discover that Ariel’s father is still alive, Ariel know she must return to the land and get him back on his thrown under the sea!

While you picture Ariel as the character from the Disney animation, it was hard for her not to be thought of anything else, due to the fact she had no voice. You watch her in the animation with no voice and you automatically associate the Ariel in Part of Your World as the same Ariel. It wouldn’t matter if Ariel’s other characteristics were different as they would be over shadowed by Ariel’s lack of a voice. It’s a simple yet affective association.

Honestly this extremely well written and probably one of my favourites of the series so far! Honestly it is, it was fantastically written and flowed so smoothly and was just overall amazing!!
