Perfect on Paper, Sophie Gonzales

Thank you Hachette for this book in exchange for an honest review

Synopsis:

Her advice, spot on. Her love life, way off.

Darcy Phillips:
• Can give you the solution to any of your relationship woes―for a fee.
• Uses her power for good. Most of the time.
• Really cannot stand Alexander Brougham.
• Has maybe not the best judgement when it comes to her best friend, Brooke…who is in love with someone else.
• Does not appreciate being blackmailed.

However, when Brougham catches her in the act of collecting letters from locker 89―out of which she’s been running her questionably legal, anonymous relationship advice service―that’s exactly what happens. In exchange for keeping her secret, Darcy begrudgingly agrees to become his personal dating coach―at a generous hourly rate, at least. The goal? To help him win his ex-girlfriend back.

Darcy has a good reason to keep her identity secret. If word gets out that she’s behind the locker, some things she’s not proud of will come to light, and there’s a good chance Brooke will never speak to her again.

Okay, so all she has to do is help an entitled, bratty, (annoyingly hot) guy win over a girl who’s already fallen for him once? What could go wrong?

Review:

I saw this book everywhere, everyone was raving about it. So why not? Give it a go!

Everyone is talking about how unique this book is and how it punches you in the feels.

Well…

My feels weren’t harmed, or even slightly moved at this book. And I am really struggling to see what was SOO unique about this book

Surely, I read the same book as everyone else? Or am I too hard to please?

Let’s break this down into what I like and didn’t like about it, that might be an easier way to organise this review.

I really like the writing; it was superb and the cover is gorgeous.

What I didn’t like was everything else…

Don’t get me wrong I love high school drama, its brilliant, but Perfect of Paper, didn’t provide any new drama. It was basically the same drama I have read over and over and over again. Which for clarification isn’t unique. From the start of this book, I knew how the characters were going to react and how the plot was going to pan out.

I didn’t like the character, again, they have been written before.

I have to say it, it was very generic. Though it will be interesting to see what else Gonzales writes up, I think she is a writer to watch out for.
