Gregory and the Grimbockle, Melanie Schubert

I received this book for free from the author  in exchange for an honest review.

This story was adorable! I loved it. It was quirky, fun, original and the I loved the soundtrack that accompanied it. The books had a real Brian Jaques, Redwall feel to it, with hidden meanings  and how children can learn to create improvement in their lives. You can never find enough books where the characters have accents or speak ‘differently’ teaching kids that everyone is unique in their own way. Did I mention the illustrations? Beautiful!

The story starts with young Gregory and the mole that is the pit of his life, until one night Grimbockle climbs out of that said mole and that’s when the adventure starts as Grimbockle informs Gregory of his job.  The meaning behind the exhoodles and how children can learn how their actions can improve their quality of life, with a polite greeting, smile or even being kind to one another.

Over all Melanie has done a delightful job and I cannot wait to re-read this book with my niece, who I know will adore it as much as I do.
