Review:
I need this as a short animated film in my life right now. I can’t even remember my life before this book. Dramatic? Yes! Is it worth it? YES!
This book absolutely adorable. I adored every word and illustration from day go and I will be keeping my eyes out for the sequel! Too adorable not to miss!
The Wild Robot is based around this robot called Roz who was in operation but boxed up in a crate on a ship that went down with a wild hurricane. Roz gets switched on by some curious otters and soon finds herself on an island and tries to figure out how she will fit in after all she doesn’t have any emotions like the animals do.
You get to watch Roz grow as a character, especially when an accident causes a family of birds to die, leaving a lone egg behind. Roz takes it upon herself to keep the hatchling alive and soon goes by the name mum. *swoon* adorable!!!! This all changes when the creators of Roz send robots to retrieve her. Her family, friends and home become threatened.
I loved the fact that some of the animals in the book call Roz a monster, because in their eyes she is. She is a massive hunk of metal that doesn’t belong. But as they grow and get use to her presence on the island they begin to realise that they rely on her. She protects them. She helps them. The monster isn’t a monster after all. If that isn’t a beautiful message I don’t know what is!?!?
So besides the cute plot, adorable characters and brilliant writing, this book as illustrations though out it that really add to the value of this book. I need more… like a series? The Wild Robot series? Please!!!!
