Synopsis:
This is the story of a sleepy town called Suds. A place where stories fill the air of children who keep turning grey and disappearing without a trace…
Poppy and Erasmus are certain there’s something peculiar going on in Suds, and they’re determined to unravel its secrets. But when they discover the answers might lie in the darking and twisting woods, can they find the courage to creep inside and solve this riddling mystery?
Review:
There is nothing that this book lacks. It was eerie yet imaginative. Dark and enjoyable. Adventurous and creative. I love stumbling across books that have that hint of a dark and spooky element to it, it is such a rarity to find. Mind you if you are not a fan of creepy books I still recommend that you pick this one up, it wasn’t that spooky to send you hiding under the covers of your bed, but just eerie enough to give you goosebumps.
To be fair I couldn’t fault this book. It was all rather magical and whimsical that I couldn’t put it down.
The overall story was divine and delightful, I mean what part of there are creatures out to get you wouldn’t get your attention? The details of these creatures lacked throughout the book and only snippets of what they are and what they are after was provided to lure you in to the story, I loved the mystery behind these creatures.
What I enjoyed most about the characters is that they told it how they saw it, there was no grey area. It was all black and white, which is realistically how kids speak, without holding anything back. Erasmus was a character that completely spoke his mind and never worries if his words hurt others as in his eyes, honesty was best. Realistically it would be great if more characters spoke their mind and feelings rather than skirting around the bush (so to speak)
Samuel wrapped the conjunction of fairy tales, bright yet quirky characters and wives tales into a delightful and fun story that I would highly recommend!
