Synopsis:
The Companions of the Ring have become involved in separate adventures as the quest continues. Aragorn, revealed as the hidden heir of the ancient Kings of the West, joined with the Riders of Rohan against the forces of Isengard, and took part in the desperate victory of the Hornburg. Merry and Pippin, captured by Orcs, escaped into Fangorn Forest and there encountered the Ents. Gandalf returned, miraculously, and defeated the evil wizard, Saruman. Meanwhile, Sam and Frodo progressed towards Mordor to destroy the Ring, accompanied by SmEagol–Gollum, still obsessed by his ‘precious’. After a battle with the giant spider, Shelob, Sam left his master for dead; but Frodo is still alive–in the hands of the Orcs. And all the time the armies of the Dark Lord are massing.
Review:
Gahh the final book. I can’t deal with this being the final book. If this series went on forever I would read every last one but alas this brilliant story comes to an end.
Frodo and Sam are in Mordor and are trying to destroy the ring, but with the added scare of Gollum lurking in the background. While the armies of Mordor are on the march into battle. You get to see the length that Sam will go to, to ensure that his friend carries out his task of destroying the ring. These two prove that little Hobbits from the shire aren’t weak but strong and brave and it kills me.
Merry and Pippin have found their way free and when they all reunite it honestly just brings all the tears of excitement. There really is no other tale then TLOR. I love this little crew and all the enjoyment they bring, it just kills me!
Middle Earth is not just a world that Tolkien created, it’s a world that we all know and love. It is a world were all other fantasy books are compared. There is and never will be a greater fantasy series written. Lord of the Rings is the ultimate epic tale.
