Synopsis:
Ever since she used the Firebird, her parents’ invention, to cross into alternate dimensions, Marguerite has caught the attention of enemies who will do anything to force her into helping them dominate the multiverse—even hurting the people she loves. She resists until her boyfriend, Paul, is attacked and his consciousness scattered across multiple dimensions.
Marguerite has no choice but to search for each splinter of Paul’s soul. The hunt sends her racing through a war-torn San Francisco, the criminal underworld of New York City, and a glittering Paris where another Marguerite hides a shocking secret. Each world brings Marguerite one step closer to rescuing Paul. But with each trial she faces, she begins to question the destiny she thought they shared.
Review:
TTSBY follows the first book without a gap or intro, we literally dive right back into the story. Which is a must for following books. I hate it when the sequel spends a whole character trying to subtitle explain what took place in the first book. If people haven’t read the first book, that’s their problem, not everyone else’s.
I loved the characters and how their morals, opinions and thoughts didn’t vary at all from the first. It’s consistent and I live for that.
Marguerite wasn’t whingy at all but again, like the first book, was a strong and decisive female lead which was great.
The world jumping and the new worlds that they travel too are also brilliant. I still can’t get over how unique and beautiful they are, with their own history, politics and guidelines.
I didn’t like the Meg/Theo/Paul triangle thing. I seriously hate love triangles. They kill me.
Overall this was a great read and of course I have to read the final one straight away.
