Review:
Well if you didn’t know from the title, this was a retelling based on Snow White and the story before the movie that we know and love. Mirror, Mirror doesn’t solely focus on Snow White and her life growing up but it mostly is about the step mother, the evil stepmother called Ingrid.
Now before I dive too far into it, I am not sure if Ingrid was the step mother’s real name? Not that it really matters but that was something that bugged me for a while, mostly cause I never thought of the stepmother as an Ingrid! Regardless, it was really great to get into the mind of the villain and how their mind works, what makes them tick and most importantly, was breaks them mentally to turn down such a dark path.
I personally find that all villains are underestimated and misunderstood, but I love these prequels to give the villains a voice and soften the harshness and ill thoughts against them. Personally I love me a good villain and will always vote villain over hero any day!
Wrapping this review up, I loved the story and the plot as it showed Ingrid in a caring light. I wasn’t a big fan of the writing, I think it lacked conviction and detail…? But other than that the rest of the book was great.
