Review:
Aladdin is a classic.
I mean I grew up on that movie and it was my childhood and probably my first ever Disney movie. Which means that I have Aladdin to blame for my Disney obsession!
This book goes into more detail of the relationship between Jasmine and Aladdin really shines through on this one and you get to see their adventures to the markets, and around Abawa. Their romance is what is missing from the movie, so you get more of a feel to what strengthens their relationship. Aladdin treats Jasmine as his equal and looks out for her even in the face of danger.
Which it’s great to get a feel of the characters from the animation and it brings to life the personality of Robin Williams in the genie. If you were ever to imagine characters from a book, you can’t imagine anything else other than the animated cast of the original Aladdin movie. No offence to the live action or anything but this book just makes the animation stand out.
Aladdin: Far from Agrabah was well written and picks up directly up after Aladdin and Genie meet and Aladdin wants to follow his heart to Jasmine.
Honestly if Aladdin was your cup of tea, and well your childhood than I highly recommend that you read this book.
I have to admit as much as I am a massive fan of Aladdin as well Disney in general, this was a little too lovey dovey for me. Maybe I wasn’t in the mood or maybe romance just sets me on edge but either way it just didn’t cut it for me.
