Thank you New South books for this book in exchange for an honest review
Synopsis:
The land outside of the Old City was supposed to be green, lush, hopeful. But the verdant fields are nothing but ash and hope is nowhere to be found. Still, Alice and Hatcher are on a mission to find his daughter: a quest they will not forsake even as it takes them deep into the clutches of the mad White Queen or into the realm of the twisted and cruel Black King. The pieces are set and the game has begun, and each move brings Alice closer to her destiny
Review:
Red Queen is the sequel to Alice and it follows Alice and Hatcher as they continue their journey and overcome the ordeals of the Old City. They envision a lush countryside where they will seek solitude and peace but instead they find themselves stumbling a wasteland that is no different from the Old City, a place they thought they had left behind. On their journey the stumble into the land of the mad White Queen and the torturous Black King and to defeat them means that Alice and Hatcher will have to accept help from the horrid Red Queen.
Alright so y’all know I am a massive fan of Henry and her dark and twisted retellings of classic tales so I was dyingggg when Newsouth books sent me this beauty! Even though I have to admit that this was a bit slow paced in the beginning of the book, I don’t think it was anything to judge. Realistically the characters are on a steep journey and thy are in a dead area so I felt if this part was rushed to get to the action would have been ridiculous.
Overall I loved this. I love Henry’s books and I am reallllllly hoping that there is a Robin Hood retelling heading our way. Please? Pretty please??
