Review:
Witch sounded like one of those books that I needed, after reading the blurb I just had that gut feeling that this was right up my creepy category. It sadly was not…
Evey, our main character, witnesses the murder of her mother for being a witch and she swears that she would get revenge on every man involved. Leaving her younger sister Dill with the coven, she set out to avenge her mother. Thought while she is hunting those involved, witch hunters are currently following her.
Seriously? It sounds epic right?
The story wasn’t gripping though, it was dragging in the mud to get anywhere fast. The writing style started off interesting as it had an old-fashioned twist to it, but by the end of the story it was killing me. I found Evey to be rash, reckless (which is great at the beginning of the book) but by the end it was just annoying that she never learned from her actions and never grew as a character. I mean if you are going off on a revenge based adventure, surely you learn from mistakes to ensure you succeed? Or is that just me when I plot revenge?
I did love the dark elements around the book, and the story was great regardless of the slow pace. But I was really hoping for more …
