Token Wolk, Kia Carrington-Russell

Thank you Kia for this book in exchange for an honest review

Synopsis:

In a world and time that has destroyed civilization for all humanity, Token Huntress, Esmore must recover since her descent and near-death. Lacking in control of her new found vampirism without her familiar, Chase, she is on the hunt for those who took what was precious to her. Leading two separate covens, fighting the Vampire Council head on, and on the run from her previous Hunter Guild, Esmore has never been so deliciously tainted. While on the hunt for her familiar and securing his safety, Esmore discovers that the humans, who had been lacking all these years in numbers and military power might not be as weak as once thought. This is a game of war between immortals, humans and all mutated creatures in-between from the war and downfall of humanity those many years ago. Somethings are best left hidden in the dark. Something is coming and it will shift the balance of this war and the outcome of our world.

Review:

Holy crap Kia has done it again. I devoured this book in one sitting and it was fantastic!!!

What I admire most about Kia Carrington-Russell’s work is the writing draws you in. I honestly can’t flaw her writing. It is smooth, consistent, bold and compelling. And the most important thing, this gal knows how to be descriptive in a few words without me wondering what’s going on. Honestly I cannot express how much it annoys me when an author spends two paragraph describing one miniscule thing or not describing enough or frankly, not describing anything at all. Carrington-Russell has character descriptions and setting descriptions down packed!! Carrington-Russell’s work is filled with passion and her characters and flawed but brave enough to stand their ground. There were a few grammar errors but to be honest, this doesn’t phase me, especially when it comes to a self-published author.

Token Wolf picks up right where Token Vampire left off. Esmore is left weak and vulnerable and must save her familiar, her soulmate Chase while wars that are being waged around her. This kick ass chick doesn’t have vulnerable moments though she doesn’t let her weaknesses get in the way of her goal of rescuing Chase, whom she knows is being tortured.

All of the characters are consistent though out the series, which is another great aspect in my opinion. You know when you finish one book, the characters that you have grown fond of will still maintain the same morals and beliefs, not once do the characters stray from themselves to suit the course of the plot.

Carrington-Russell has delivered another brutal, dark, edgy and yet intriguing book and I’m so glad that there is more to come!
