Synopsis:

On a cold Sunday evening in early 1957, Sarah Dewhurst waited with her father in the parking lot of the Chevron gas station for the dragon he’d hired to help on the farm…

Sarah Dewhurst and her father, outcasts in their little town of Frome, Washington, are forced to hire a dragon to work their farm, something only the poorest of the poor ever have to resort to.

The dragon, Kazimir, has more to him than meets the eye, though. Sarah can’t help but be curious about him, an animal who supposedly doesn’t have a soul, but who is seemingly intent on keeping her safe.

Because the dragon knows something she doesn’t. He has arrived at the farm with a prophecy on his mind. A prophecy that involves a deadly assassin, a cult of dragon worshippers, two FBI agents in hot pursuit—and somehow, Sarah Dewhurst herself

Review:

Burn is one of those books that after you finish it, you sit there in awe. Again, Ness has bought forth a unique, heart hitting and surprising novel! Set in the 1950’s you see the world though the period of Russia VS America but then add in the mix of dragons!!

This enthralling tale is based on Sarah, a young girl who lives with her dad on a failing farm and urgently hire a dragon to work for them before they can no longer afford to survive. What I love about this is that dragons are something that is known amongst humans and not a scary and rare site.

The sarcastic dragon Kasimir, however, warns Sarah of a prophecy that involves her and how she needs to prepare herself or die. So while Sarah and her friend Jason prepare themselves for upcoming events, they are unaware of the FBI which a tracking a cult and both are heading their way.

This fast paced and enthralling book will literally leave you bitting you fingernails as you read, unsure, uncertain but ready for a twist you won’t see coming. Ness delivers a diverse fantasy that no one has ever seen before!
