Review:
This book has hard hitting topics and sense and whilst most find them hard to digest, I think it is something that definitely needs to be read. Taboo topics need to be discussed and I am glad that they appear in more YA books, for the younger viewers to have a wake up call (so to say) But rape, abuse, mental health and drug use is a theme in this book and is eye opening when you think of R Kelly and the horrendous situations he put woman in.
This book also highlights the mistreatment of black woman and how less likely they are to be believed when it comes to allegations of assault. This is hard hitting but truthful. Woman are never truly heard.
I loved this book. I thought is was brilliant and who doesn’t love a murder ‘who dun it’ plot? Enchanted is a bold yet calm and faithful character which I love and her character is true to point throughout the whole book, her personality doesn’t change to suit the plot.
It’s actually really hard to write a positive review about a realistic and dark reality of what females and black females face every day. But I highly recommend that you read this book because Jackson has a beautiful way of writing about dark and terrible truths.
