Thank you Penguin for this book in exchange for an honest review
Synopsis:
As Vicious Spirits begins, Miyoung and Jihoon are picking up the pieces of their broken lives following the deaths of Miyoung’s mother, Yena, and Jihoon’s grandmother. With the support of their friend Somin, and their frenemy, Junu, they might just have a shot at normalcy. But Miyoung is getting sicker and sicker by the day and her friends don’t know how to save her. With few options remaining, Junu has an idea but it might require the ultimate sacrifice and, let’s be honest, Junu isn’t known for his “generosity.” Meanwhile, the events at the end of Wicked Fox have upended the forces that govern life and death and there are supernatural entities lurking in the background that will stop at nothing to right their world
Review:
I loved Wicked Fox. I really did. This sequel, however, did not live up to the hype.
Vicious Spirits takes place right after Wicked Fox left off. Miyoung and Jihoon have been through so many terrible situations with betrayals, supernatural villains that left them with near death experiences. Pretty much the story in Wicked Fox has you falling over these two characters and you desperately want their story to continue, but Vicious Spirits doesn’t deliver what you hoped for.
Did I groan with disappointment while I read this book, why yes I did. There was not really a fabrication of a plot, like the plot packed its bag and walked out the door, leaving our gorgeous Miyoung and Jihoon crying desperately on the floor. Not even the poor pacing of the book, could help our characters. Besides our gorgeous characters there really wasn’t anything enjoyable about this book and it is actually soul crushing.
